The Ironworks Community Centre, Leigh-on-Sea
First, a bit of history. When we formed D’Ukes, we agreed the ‘F’ word would never be uttered within the band. I am of course referring to George Formby. Not that he wasn’t a great player, as anyone who has tried to learn his songs will agree, they are not for the faint-hearted, but his name lingers when words like ‘Ukulele’ and phrases like ‘Turned out nice again’ are spoken. Anyway, this vow was well and truly broken at the Ironworks and was extremely well received. Once those windows had been cleaned, we launched ourselves into the rest of the set and had a great time. Thanks to all at the Ironworks who made the evening such a pleasure for us.
